Guest post: Bambi Cantrell’s Photograph, Sun Kissed Goddess
This has become one of my favorite images. The inspiration came from listening carefully to one of my clients after walking into her home and seeing the beautiful stained glass windows. Sometimes, we forget about trying to understand our clients better and simply proceed according to their agenda or comfort zone. Other times the client might have difficulty quantifying what it is they really want from their photographer.
It’s a constant “work in progress”, but I work hard to pay attention to the visual signals of each client’s body language, clothing choices such as shoes, handbags, and even whether their finger nails are polished or not. I know it sounds silly, but sometimes we girls don’t know what we want, but we know it when we see it.
See you at Skip’s Summer School when during my program I’ll address the many aspects of wedding photography, how great images often relate to the unspoken, and how they translate to every aspect of a photographer’s job from shooting the event to presentation. We’re definitely going to have some fun during an action packed 2 ½ days that will educate, entertain and give you new ideas to immediately apply to your business!
Technical Specs: Canon EOS 1D Mark III , Canon 24 mm 1.4 lens shot at f2.8 @ 1 400th sec. Metering was Evaluative, and I metered for the bright part of the cheek. Once that was done, I processed the file (RAW) twice, once for the girl and once for the windows. Afterwards I used a layer mask and painted the windows back in for a more vibrant look. I used the “Dark Strokes” filter in Photoshop to give the image a bit more snap.
