I’ve learned a great deal about sculpting the body with existing light sources from my friend Tony Corbell.

In this image, I’ve placed the subject close to the light source to insure a soft light, (the closer the subject to the light source the softer the light on the subject).  By placing myself and my camera angle about 45 degrees from the light source I am able to sculpt the body, giving it a more pleasing shape, and adding the all important shadow areas to my image.

Shadow areas give the photograph its depth and enhance shape.  By having the model pull her chest towards the window I insure two things, first, it arches the back giving a shapely waist, and second, it gives the image more feeling and attitude.   I have to admit, I got a little help from the wind, which gave the image a more fluid feel.

Incidentally, I used one of Jim Garner’s awesome textures to give the image warmth, and a bit of texture.
