Sunday Morning Reflections: The Speed of the Grapevine
At Pictage’s Partner Con last week in New Orleans I talked about photographers using their own images for their holiday cards and put up a few examples. One of them was from an old buddy, David Michael Kennedy. Since DMK is one of the finest Palladium printers in the world, as well as a remarkable artist, I had some fun with a story about working with him in my Hasselblad days. Sadly, I’ve pretty much lost touch with him.
Twenty four hours later he sent me a note on facebook having heard I showed one of his holiday cards from years back in my program. So, on this lazy Sunday morning, here’s the good news and the bad news…
The good news is that news these days travels much faster than you do. The bad news is, remember that news these days travels much faster than you do. You never know who you’re talking to or who’s reading what you just wrote about in a forum, on a blog or at a convention. A few years ago a professional photographer, who was sponsored by Company X was presenting images taken with Company Y’s gear….oops, no more sponsorship.
I’m not saying you shouldn’t speak what’s on your mind, just don’t say anything or write anything you’re not willing to share with the world.

I know the Power of a Social Media Butterfly! DMK is a mutual friend whom I am honored to be modeling for in the near future.
