At Skip’s Summer School I threw out a contest to all attendees for the best holiday card, using their own images.  Those of you who have attended my marketing program know how strongly I believe in using your own images for holiday cards and your personal stationery.  I blogged about it last fall as well.  Using your own image in a holiday card is such an easy way to promote your own work and skill set.

Jen Alston, who also wound up with a mini-guest post earlier in the year was the winner for 2009, but a big congrats to all of you who sent in cards.  Each of you are way ahead of your competitors who simply missed the boat for 2009, but will hopefully be inspired to do something next year.   Better yet, maybe they’ll use their images now in creating some high impact business stationery!

What we liked the most about Jen’s card was the continuity of each of the components.  The theme was a movie poster all done in black and gold – not your usual holiday season colors, but the follow-through was so strong that it simply works!  The envelope, card stock, business card are all black, making her family portrait really stand out.  The card included a business card in a black sleeve.  Including a biz card is a great idea and only one other entry, Geoff Ball, included a card.

As promised Jen wins a scholarship to next year’s Skip’s Summer School, August 8-11 in Las Vegas, a large metal print from H&H Color Lab and a free Marathon Press marketing workshop.  Congratulatons Jen!

Since I’m in Nashville when writing this, it sure seems appropriate to say, “Y’all done good!”
