I’m in Nashville for the DWF convention and IUSA.  My day is starting with breakfast with friends, followed by walking the trade show and finishing with a presentation on marketing I’m doing for DWF.  What I can’t describe right now is the anticipation of catching up to old friends and finally meeting so many people face to face who previously I’ve only heard their “Tweet”.

Social media is a kick and there’s no question it’s brought us closer together as an industry, but nothing replaces a hand shake or a hug!  Nothing can replace the electricity in the air as you’re sitting in the audience waiting to hear what one of your favorite photographers has to say and to see new images!

I can’t help but get on the soapbox on this one…if you’re not here in Nashville, don’t worry about it – just get yourself into the next convention or workshop you can.  There’s something about the power of a group of people with the same goals that will get you charged up for the year ahead!  It’s a combination of smiles, creativity, passion and commitment and there’s nothing else like it!
