A March 1st Challenge
Okay, this is a quick simple thought for a “First Tuesday” of the week morning. WPPI is this coming weekend. The Ohio Professional Photographers convention is right after WPPI and my apologies for not knowing what other conventions are in the pipeline, but here’s the challenge:
March Madness doesn’t have to only be about basketball. What if March Madness really was named after the photographic industry, because it’s the last month before business swings back into full gear? It’s a perfect time to tie up loose ends. It’s a great time to take action on those projects you’ve been procrastinating about. It’s a great time to commit to diversifying your business if that’s what you think it needs. It’s a great time to network with everyone in the community around you. It’s a great time to volunteer some of your time to help your community, Thirst Relief or NILMDTS.
And best of all, it’s the perfect time to attend some great workshops, listen to a few speakers who have skill sets different than yours and take those new ideas and turn them into building blocks for the year ahead! There it is, “building” – March Madness should be about building your business, skill set, client base and your network.
Okay, while it’s hard to imagine me quoting Gandhi the other day, here’s one from Donald Trump:
Thoreau said: “I know of no more encouraging fact than the unquestioned ability of a man to elevate his life by conscious endeavor.” That is not only an encouraging statement, it is also an empowering one. It means you can accomplish a lot by applying your brainpower and then moving forward with it.
So gang, March Madness is about “moving forward”!
Happy First Tuesday! (Sorry, you’ve to remember we don’t have Monday’s in my house.)

Right indeed Skip.. This is action month! We are re-inventing our website behind the scenes hoping to launch by the end of the week. Then, WPPI for a week of intense learning and sharing. Look forward to getting back home and kicking everything into high gear. Hope to catch up with you in Vegas!

Skip,
I am becoming addicted to your blog (finally an addiction that does not require rehab or interventions (well maybe for some of your jokes). I kid…….I kid
Seriously…… My business is in a huge growth spurt right now and I get at least 1 amazing idea from your blog each week.
This post is one of those……..it is something I have already thought about but your posts just keep that fire lit.
Thanks again for the inspiration!

Thomas: Thanks for the kind words – you’re not the only one addicted to the blog – although it’s a lot more fun hearing it from you than talking to myself! If there’s a specific topic or area anybody ever wants me to research just say the word.

It is also a terrific time to build and reinforce something more important than business, that of friendships. The WPPI convention starts this week, and while I will be recharged by the amazing photographic information, as important if not more, will be the warm hugs and exchanges of friends not seen in a while. It has been a tough year for many, and it will be encouraging and upbuilding to see all of those attending.
