Sunday Morning Reflections: What are you going to do different tomorrow?
Okay, so tomorrow is Monday (in our house we banned Mondays, so it’s referred to as “First Tuesday”) and I’m about to suggest you do one thing tomorrow that you never do, just to mix up your game a little.
Maybe it’s move your lights around in the studio. Maybe it’s spend some time on a few websites looking for new products. There’s a lot going on in the world of albums, frames, canvas prints, not to mention all of the products your lab is probably offering that will help you grow your business.
Maybe it’s time to change the copy on your website, especially the “about us” section. I’m amazed at how many photographers have information that’s simply irrelevant or out of date. Read your bio and ask yourself, would I hire me?
If you’re on the people side of life, especially weddings, children and family portraiture, your bio needs to have a whole lot of heart. People are more interesting in hiring you for your personality than your skill set. They already think they know your skill set – so don’t disappoint them, but it’s your personality they’re after and your ability to bring out the best most natural smiles if they hire you.
So, on that note enjoy this incredible July day with your family and friends and hit your business tomorrow morning with a goal – time to switch up your game!

Thanks for the reminder of moving forward Skip. I follow a photographer acquaintance that absolutely loves Mondays. He looks at them as a start to a brand new week with new potential and opportunities for a new beginning of success and growth.
I can understand your thoughts on Monday’s. I think it’s become an accepted attitude probably just because nobody wants to leave the weekend, that’s understandable. But I have challenged myself with this thought, If one loves what they do the start of a new week should be a welcome sight.
Glad I discovered your site, lots of good info.

A lot, like talking to contacts. Copyrighting mass of pictures. Sleeping less, working more, may make me less sleepless.

Tomorrow I am presenting the owner of a newly renovated diner with a night shot of the neon sign. It is glowing for the first time in probably 2 decades if not more.
I have never done this before, lack of confidence perhaps. But, I am excited about it.
