Sunday Morning Reflections: August 1st!
Staying with the tradition of keeping it short on a Sunday morning, today is August 1st and the summer is flying by. So what are you going to do today to close out the back half of the weekend and make it special? It’s definitely a day to just shut down business, although I’ll admit, I can’t practice what I preach today, but I can limit the time I’m going to put into NSA (Non-Sheila-Activities).
So, if you’ve got to get a little work done, just to wrap up that wedding you shot last night or to get ready for something on Monday morning, do it now and set a time you’re going to walk away from biz within the next few hours! If I’ve learned nothing else within the last year, life is just too short and work will always be there. It’s all about your attitude.
Like so many of you, I absolutely love what I’m doing and there are times when it’s hard to balance things out. We all get overly focused on various issues and projects, but I found an interesting quote that brings it all together:
The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude , to me, is more important than facts. It is more important that the past, the education, the money, than circumstances, than failure, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill. It will make or break a company… a church…a home. The remarkable thing is we have a choice everyday regarding the attitude will will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past…we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% of how I react to it. And so it is with you…we are charge of our Attitudes. You always get me Skip! You always do it, I feel like you are as a Barbara Walters who makes all her interviewees cry!
Thanks for shedding the light, it is true, hard to pull ourselves from the things we love, but we really need to have balance. It’s like the Feng Shui of the brain, and heart!
Again, you have made my Sunday am, just a little more meaningful, because you make me think!
