Summer School 2012…What a Kick It’s Going to Be!
The Summer School site for 2012 launched this morning, but there’s a lesson here that’s definitely worthy of a post! I appreciate all the great feedback and suggestions that went into this year’s program. I get a lot of accolades, but the truth is, the success of the program has little to do with me. There’s a team of terrific people behind every event in this industry.
In the late hours of last night, Matt Gartz was changing copy, as we stuck to the goal of going live this morning. Adam Sherwin of RETV and Resource Magazine starting working on the new video last summer and managed to pack a lot of great information into just three minutes. This year’s instructors have an incredible task ahead of them and each one has been selected because they’re the very best. The sponsors are going to be doing some exciting things this year as well and in a tough economy with all the changes in our industry, I’m really proud to have their support and you should be too!
Even staff at the hotel, who I’ve never worked with before, are on top of this event. They’re excited to have Skip’s Summer School coming to the Chicago area and you can be sure they’re going to do their very best to make the program a success.
Jeff Medford and Ross Hockrow are working to create an educational platform that sets a new standard for each of you taking the film-making class. While not new to them, this is a new idea for Summer School and you can count on the word “intensive” being redefined on August 6 and 7!
Last on the list, my wife Sheila, who spent more than her fair share of time reviewing copy for me and putting up with my moments of F.P. (Frantic Panic) over getting each component in place so we could go live today.
So, here’s the bottom line this morning…I get by with lots of help from my friends. We all have a network of people that keep us going every day, challenge us and push us in new directions. No matter what the project or task you have in front of you, remember your network!
Happy Go-Live Summer School 2012! It’s going to be a terrific program thanks to so many people, especially those of you coming to Chicago.
