Last night Doug Gordon did an outstanding program, giving attendees at least 120 different wedding poses to bring into their arsenal of skills. It’s Doug’s trademark, flow posing, with the ”flow” coming from the natural transition from shot to shot, showing how easily he works with the bride and groom. There were a few different things I connected with during Doug’s program.

Akron Photo Series
I’ve written a lot about the importance of being involved in your community since I started this blog. It’s one of the most important aspects of your business. I heard Jay Conrad Levinson, the genius who coined the words “guerilla marketing”, speak at one of the PPA conventions years ago. At that time he put being involved in [...]
I’ve got two great announcements this morning: First, everyone attending the Akron Photo Series program with Doug Gordon next Tuesday night qualifies for a $60 credit on any stock order of $100 or more from Albums Inc! That effectively puts you into a three hour workshop for FREE.
Second, I’ve talked a lot about the importance of membership [...]
Yesterday I dropped off the first of what I hope will be many donation checks to Akron Children’s Hospital. This first donation of $1620 was made thanks to Clay Blackmore and the attendees at his Akron PhotoFusion Revolution Workshop on October 10. Ten percent of the gate was going to the hospital, but Clay decided he [...]
A big thanks to photographers in the Cleveland/Akron area as well as PA, MI and Will and Danna who drove up from Charleston for helping to make PhotoFusion Revolution a big hit yesterday. There were 120+ people in attendance along with Mike from Canon and Tim from Midwest Photo Exchange. This was the first workshop helping to launch the Akron Photo Series [...]
Here’s the fun of your own blog – it doesn’t always have to make a huge point. Sometimes it’s okay to just keep it light, simple and have multiple points. So, here are some completely random thoughts for a Saturday morning!
—This is for my 88 year old Dad’s benefit. Yes Dad, I am proud of [...]
If you’re not signed up for Photo Fusion Revolution yet, the clock is ticking. They don’t get much better than a program featuring Clay Blackmore. Best of all, this is a program on portraiture, weddings and HDSLR Cinema. This is a program to help you fine tune your skills in posing, lighting and composition. In short, [...]
For those of you who also follow the blog at GoingPro, my apologies. I published this last week, but it’s so important. It deserves a second time out. The foundation of being a professional photographer starts with understanding photography. Your goal is to go back to a principle from the “old” film days and create great [...]
I don’t know about all of you, but even in business, I’d much rather be carrying the ball than chasing it. So, with football season completely underway, it seems like a good idea to come up with some ideas to help photographers play offense the rest of this year and into 2011!
1) Plan at least [...]
While a lot of bloggers don’t bother on the weekends, I love the weekends, because it gives me a chance to regroup my thoughts for the following week and at the same time, we’re all in a keep-it-light kind of mood. For those of you who follow me on the weekends, thank you – your [...]
